It was learnt that the fuel explosion also burnt seven vehicles in the traffic that spread to the popular Lagos atoll gate and seven up bus stop. According to witnesses the incident occurred at about 5pm near the center for management Development as the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into a mechanic workshop where about seven vehicles were completely burnt, with several other properties destroyed.
The aftermath of the accident has thrown the road into heavy traffic leaving many commuters stranded at various bus stops. According to Mr Dauda Alabi, a witness it took about five minutes after the tanker fell before it exploded.
“The driver ran away.We could not see him.He knew that the content of the tanker would soon explode, that was why he disappeared.” Alabi said.
